The Dirt Devil Power Stick is a small, powerful and noisy vacuum cleaner that will be perfect for some users and unsuitable for others.

My experience has been positive, using it for one year in a three room apartment full of wooden flooring. It easily sucked up all the dust and dirt put in front of it, including that on my large rug. It’s small form factor allows you to nip into small spaces and it’s light enough to whip around with ease. If you’re low on storage space, this is a lifesaver, easily fitting into a small storage cupboard.

There is a downside, noise. If quietness is important to you, stay clear. If raw power over a large area is important, you’ll want something larger.

This is aimed at the small home or apartment, perfect for students, singles and couples living in a small space. It is not aimed at families or anyone living in a large home.

I bought this remanufactured product after reading all of the positive reviews. To say it changed our lives might be a little dramatic, but ok, it is close. We have 2600 square feet of tile, vinyl and wood floors, 3 dogs and a cat. We set our little Scooba friend lose,and voila! clean floors. We had an issue after 3 days of use-couldn’t get our friend to work. We called the seller, who offered to immediately send a new unit if iRobot could not help us fix it. We called iRobot customer service who patiently talked us through troubleshooting and it is working fine again. We use vinegar/water (a) because we have mostly sealed hardwood and (b) no one in our area sells the Clorox solution. We have, however, ordered more of the solution to use on the tile. One reviewer didn’t like the vinegar/water option, saying it made the house smell like a salad. We find that within a few minutes the vinegar smell disappears and it just smells clean, much better than using a chemical solution, plus cheaper and more environmentally sound.

I bought this with a gift card I received for my birthday. I said I was going to splurge and buy something just for me that I really didn’t need and wouldn’t normally spend on myself. So, what do I buy? A vacuum cleaner!! Anyway, it’s a pretty good vacuum. Nice and lightweight for quick jobs on floors. Not the most powerful for carpets, but it’s not really designed for that. It’s just as quick as, or even quicker than a broom and you don’t have to pick up the debris afterward. Emptying the debris cylinder is very easy. However, be warned that it’s a little loud. Over all I like it and would recommend it.

I was looking for affordable, light weighed and powerful vacuum cleaner for my apartment. I have no pets, primarily wood floor and tiles, several rugs. My apartment is typically very clean and not overloaded with “stuff”. In the past, I had Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner for several years (upright model) and was satisfied with durability and quality of cleaning. So, naturally, after some online research, I decided to get Dirt Devil Power Stick – M084100, even though the overall rating was not impressive.
Assembling the product did not take much time for me and instructions were reasonable while not perfect. I turned the power button on and vacuum cleaner jumped. It was first unpleasant surprise. I navigated it to the area with visible dust and before I could vacuum it, the dust flew in the air to my complete surprise. Well, it turned out, the air coming from the bottom of vacuum cleaner approached the dust before the vacuuming happens. Few minutes later I was sneezing and my eyes were getting irritated. I can only imagine what happen in apartments (houses) with animals.
The vacuum cleaner did not work well on the rugs either. After 10 minutes of cleaning I simply gave up because the dust in the air started really bothering and I could not stop sneezing.
And that was the end of my experiment with this product. I returned it to the store next day.

Powerful Motor with nowhere to go – P. McMahon – Seattle
I’ve had my Dirt Devil Power Stick for two months now. The motor has enough power to suck like crazy but the vacuum’s design leaves this an impotent appliance. With the handle positioned high the suction is diminished due to poor design inside the vacuum head’s knuckle. I’m tall so this is a problem. The front of the vacuum head is really designed to suck best in the very middle making it hard to reach close to walls or corners. Consequently it does not cover much area. And larger particles stay in the head. When you turn the vacuum off they will be redeposited back onto the floor. My Dirt Devil will make it’s last trip today…..to the dumpster.

Hello, I’ve just purchased a scooba and I have some complaint:
1.)First of all,I have problem with the battery.I have to charge it for 4 hours!!(Only the first time was 17 hours, but the Cleaning Cycle lasts only 30min.,it doesn’t clean the whole room 10-15sq.meters.What can I do to extent the Cl.Cycle? Should I replace the battery? Which one is suitable and how much longer will it last?
2.)About the warranty,what should I do?#to register?where?ect. Also,how long does it last?
Is there something i should have in mind, for residents in Athens,Greece?
3.)I have asked for help, because my scooba has been damaged and doesn’t work, but I had no reply. What should I do? Can I return the item?

I am reviewing irobot scooba
I am using this for a quite a while now more than 6 months, when I started liking it even though it had many drawbacks, it’s not working now. Whenever I plug it in to charge it is not charging anymore but a service light is on with a sound indicating that it needs service, and to check tank, I fiddled with it I checked tank and cleaned up everything and cleaned the brush, air filter, but for no use, unfortunately I am out of warranty so I cannot send it for repair or exchange it now.
Pros: clever cleaner, it really cleans the stuff, room smells good, you definitely cannot clean the place 2-3 times the way it does, easy to use.
Make sure you sweep the floor before you switch scooba on.
Cons:
1) Noise – it gets very annoying at times, you cannot watch TV or talk on phone, and you have to shout while talking to people in the same room.
2) charging time – this is the worst part, you cannot use the equipment immediately, reason- it takes whooping 16 hrs to charge every time, you can use it immediately when u leave it charging for ever, in which case you actually are keeping your battery at risk.
3) Battery life- while at use it will run for 35- 40 min which I did not think is good enough time for it to clean even though the place I live is equal to the size of two studio size apartments. In this era where very small batteries run for 6-7 hours, this huge battery does not live up to expectations. The battery which comes with the original equipment can only survive 6-8 months and then you need to buy new battery for at least 45 bucks (I am not sure if that is covered under warranty). If the battery is covered under warranty you better take the warranty and don’t rely on battery life.
4) Doesn’t clean the corners as can be expected from its round shape.
5) Expensive equipment – I felt it expensive home equipment for the flaws it has and the work it does.
6) Expensive liquid (why do you want to spend 10 dollars for a 946ml cleaning liquid.
7) No options or display – like you don’t know how long it will run for if u wants to clean it up and leave.
Does not clean very hard stains on floor.
9) Very messy to clean the brush of scooba after it finishes cleaning if the hair gets in and stuck.
10) Not really a powerful machine.
This is a good machine for a start. It needs to go loooong way before it reaches perfection.

Having owned several other small vacuums for our laminate floors and as the owner of two indoor only cats, I have to say this is the best yet. In fact, I have ordered two spares, just in case they stop making them!!!!!! There are two minor features that could be improved upon. The first is that emptying the cup is messy as you have to scrape the pet hair off with your hand. It is, however, easy to rinse off and is like new again. The second is that the little motor is quite loud. It’s also quite good for a quick crumb pick-up on carpeting but is not meant to take the place of a regular upright for heavy vacuuming.
